Quantifying Social Value for the Gallagher Group

Gallagher Group crop.jpg

Client:

Gallagher Group - Over the last 45 years the Gallagher Group has built an unrivalled reputation as Kent's premier civil engineering, property development, design and build contracting, and quarrying business.

Challenge:

The Gallagher Group have been active in the communities in which they operate for many years and wanted to quantify this in a way that was easy to understand for partners, employees and customers.

Solution:

Collins McHugh worked with the Gallagher Group to identify all areas of their operation which generated social value in their communities, from charity work, local employment, use of local suppliers and SMEs, educational opportunities, employee volunteering and some outstanding environmental work.

Using nationally recognised social value proxies and applying social value calculations we were able to supply Gallagher Group with the information they needed. We also established other forms of engagement to further increase the social value generated by the Company. The information has been used to generate Gallagher’s first Social Value Report, which in addition to the figures also gives the narrative and context behind the outstanding contribution that the Gallagher Group makes to the communities in which it operates.

Lyndsey Gallagher, Chief Operating Officer at Gallagher Group said of working with Collins McHugh: “We knew we needed to quantify the community work we’ve been undertaking for some time and the impact it has had not just on the community, but the staff involved and the company as a whole. We engaged Collins McHugh as we knew the team would go above and beyond to deliver exactly what was required, when we needed it, working closely with our internal team.”

Outcome:

Customers, employees and wider stakeholders can now see the contribution made by the Gallagher Group via a single document on-line and understand the activity behind the social value figures generated. Feedback has been excellent.
