Welcoming Steve Giblin to Collins McHugh: Enhancing Health and Safety for Our Clients

We are delighted to now be able to offer the skills and expertise of Steve Giblin to our clients. Steve brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise that will greatly benefit any company who need to review or improve any aspect of their health and safety performance. As you will read below Steve’s experience and knowledge is excellent and he represents all that we stand for, integrity, efficiency and being solutions focused.

Steve’s professional background is nothing short of impressive. With over 30 years of experience in health, safety, and security roles across the world, Steve has much to offer clients who may have specific needs around investigations, accident causation, or just a simple review of systems and policies. He has served as the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing (HSW) Director for the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) and has statutory authority for HSW under the Energy Act. As a chartered safety and health practitioner, he is a member of the American Society of Safety Practitioners (ASSP) and the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM). Steve's involvement in the safety industry also includes his previous role on the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) UK Safety Panel, where he actively lobbied government and industry on critical safety issues.

Steve is an active IOSH interview panel chair, guiding new members through their IOSH membership interviews. His leadership roles extend to being the former Deputy Chair of Water UK and chairing United Utilities' working group on confined spaces. Steve has also contributed his expertise to the European Security Advisory Committee, aiding the UK ports industry in implementing the International Port Facility Security Code.

What truly sets Steve apart is his unique skill set and extensive background spanning utilities, manufacturing, shipping, transport, aviation, military, and marine disciplines. In his career, Steve has successfully investigated, challenged, and defended several fatal cases and serious incidents, working with some of the country’s top barristers, lawyers, and insurers. Steve has sat on some of the most influential safety groups in the UK, both in government and the private sector, as well as European bodies on safety and security. He has successfully built safe and sustainable cultures in large businesses globally, demonstrating his ability to engage at all levels of any organisation.

In addition to his professional achievements, Steve is a practicing Justice of the Peace (Magistrate) and serves on the Liverpool Bench for The Ministry of Justice. His extensive network of legal, insurance, and specialist contacts ensures comprehensive support for any health, safety, or environmental topic. His services are bespoke and client-centric, designed to help clients with their specific needs.
