Social Value

Since January 2021 all major central Government procurements must explicitly evaluate social value, where previously they had just been required to ‘consider it’, and with all sectors starting to realise the importance of social value as part of their day-to-day activities, it’s never been more important that your organisation can showcase yours.

Social value is generated by creating change in the community around you by:

  • Volunteering

  • Providing skills and resources for community organisations

  • Providing employment skills and training for local people

  • Supporting disadvantaged groups like BAME, disabled, ex-offenders, women returners, long term unemployed

  • Using local organisations and SMEs in the supply chain

  • Providing health support (inc. mental health)

  • Providing accessible high quality green spaces

Most businesses will be generating a level of social value without even realising it, the key is to quantify it.
